Meeting began with the pledge led by Karen Acker, followed by a prayer by James Grossi. Tom Guldi was our sargeant, and quizzed us on “this day in history.” Beau Hulse was nominated best dressed, notably for his salmon colored pants. James picked the winning ticket, but not the winning card, so next week we all have another chance to win the pot.
James updated us on the Firecracker Race (Sept 6th); members who signed up to help at the original July 5th race date are asked to please honor those commitments on Sept 6th, or let James know if you are unable to make it. We have water for the race, and Aleksandra will see if she can get the students to hand out the water, which is still in storage.
Rosane updated us on SouthamptonFest, with a brief discussion about tents (the Village is not interested in a co-purchase with Rotary) and the possibility of purchasing an inflatable as a less costly alternative if we purchase ourselves, perhaps assisted by donations. The SouthamptonFest committee will make a presentation at the next meeting on September 3rd so members can vote on various options.
Adam Goldschmiedt was the speaker. He is an experienced EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) implementer and author, helping businesses with 10 to 250 employees to 1) Crystallize their business vision, 2) gain the Traction to do what is needed to achieve that vision, and 3) create Healthy work environment.
Seán Deneny, Co-Vice President, led the meeting as Aleksandra and James were out of town, and Brian is out on leave for three months. There were several important announcements. First, we wished Paul Cassella a very happy birthday. Paul advised that the customized event tent with our logo had arrived.

Tim Corwin provided an update on the lifesaver vests program he has undertaken with the Town of Southampton. Vicki read handwritten thank you notes from some of our scholarship recipients. Everyone expressed their good wishes for Alexis Mayer and her upcoming trip to Ecuador for a new treatment opportunity. There was no speaker at today’s meeting. Sean spoke about his history of East End Rotary Clubs, and the rotary “how to” manual that he is creating for the club. Beau spoke about Fresh Air Home. Brian spoke about the Breakers game. Southamptonfest will be October 2nd, and Rosane has agreed to step in with and take over the committee. Mark handed over the documentation to help the committee going forward. We also talked about updating by laws , Paul has created a draft based on other people's clubs and an outline provided by Lydia Wells last year. Many clubs in the district took on this task last year and it's time. It's important to have rules that reflect our clubs procedure. Paul provided a presentation on Clubrunner. An annual tradition has the about 20 Southampton Rotarians visiting the Fresh Air Home every year. It's a day of fun and festivities in addition to enjoying a delicious meal of chicken fingers, macaroni and cheese, heroes, waters and sodas, etc from Cromers Market. The kids enjoy ice cream from the local Mr. Softy. The kids all had their faces painted and they enjoyed a magic show. The board appreciates the great attendance that we had at this years event. Thank you Racheal and Beau Hulse for their efforts on coordinating this amazing event.
It was a great day to be behind Southampton High School for the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball final game of the regular season as the Ospreys took on the home town Southampton Breakers. The breakers struck first scoring 1 run. Ospreys took the lead a 2 run home run. Final Score was 2-1 as the North Fork Ospreys won the game. We had a good crowd for the game and we served food after the game was complete. American and Italian heros, salads, waters , twinkies . We would like to thank Brian and Jennifer Leiser for the coordinated effort in serving food for the game

In response to the recent drowning of a six year old child, Tim Corwin read his presentation to the Town Trustees about providing emergency life rings and jackets. He noted that the Sebonac Inlet is the most dangerous for swimmers. There signage is in English only. Tim noted that for $6900 we (Rotary or Town with Rotary) could purchase 246 life jackets that are Coast Guard approved to be placed at various locations for the next season (May/June - September/October). The jackets would be stored by the Marine Patrol.

Brian Leiser asked that volunteers for the Baseball game be at the High School baseball fields by 4pm on July 22; the game will start at 5pm, and Brian is picking up the sandwiches. No program for today's meeting, so Paul took this opportunity to remind all to check their ClubRunner account; Paul will be assisting everyone in the proper use. Rosanne Cassella gave a Paul Harris award to Seamus in honor of his fundraising and his stewardship of the annual spaghetti dinner. Rosanne also awarded Ed DeMondo a Paul Harris award, his for his outstanding contributions to Rotary and to the community. Linda Debenedetto received a special award as a retiring Rotary member and former Secretary. Beau Hulse reminded all that this year the Fresh Air event will be held on July 23. James Grossi confirmed that we will be providing lunch at the Breakers Ball Game to be held at the Intermediate School on July 22nd, 5pm.A
Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) update by Anahim Rojas and Reandy Vegas, both incoming 11th graders, was well presented, and Co-Presidents James and Aleksandra presented each of the students with a $500 award toward their $1800 registration for their upcoming 3-day weekend in Riverhead.

After a lot of organizing and correspondence, the day was finally here. The revealing of the peace pole at Bridgehampton School. I was really excited after seeing the agenda for the day. We arrived around 12pm to set up the cooler . We had Tates Cookies and Watermelon Slices, Capri Suns, Water and blessed with a beautiful day.

Our program was Jessica Orr, and Karen from Lupus Foundation of America. She informed the group about Lupus and told us what a devastating disease it is. As it attacks mutiple systems in the body. There is no cure for Lupus, and are determined to bring attention to the disease so that it's not as expensive to treat as detection can be up to 7 years. More on lupus here. We appreciate Jessica coming all the way from New Jersey to meet with us today. We donated $250 to Lupus.
Every year multiple rotary clubs around the globe come together in service, for Epic Day of Service. This year the Southampton Rotary met at the North End Graveyard in Southampton. The club met with Southampton Town historian Julie Greene who lectured us about the history of Southampton. Julie walked around the cemetery and told us stories about the gravestones we were seeing. In attendance were rotarians President: Rosane Cassella, Treasurer Paul Cassella, Michael Gomberg, Alexis Mayer, Sean Dennehy, Laurie Wiltshire and our organizer/chair Vicki Kahn. Our group when on to clean each stone with a special cleaning solution that removes all of the dirt from the gravestones. Leaving them shiny and clean to read. It was an amazing day. Meeting began with the prayer and the pledge. Three members from Southampton Robotics Team gave us a recap on their competition in Texas. They told us about their experience in hopes of returning. Very impressive. Rosane brought to the club's attention the passing of former DG , and 30+ year Riverhead Rotary member Mel Elwood. Tim spoke about a hike he is leading this Saturday at 9am at the Tuckahoe Woods, for more info, check out southamptontrails.org. Epic Day of Service will be this Saturday at 11am. Please sign up if you plan on attending. Our club donated $5,000 at the annual Rollstone Foundation Galla that Rosane and Paul attended. Our scholarship committee finished deliberating this week and decided on 14 total scholarships of $3,000. Harold was our sargent. Vicki was best dressed female. This date in history 1787 delegates created the draft of the Constitution. Mickey Mantle hit his 500 home run. Our program was Katie of Fairy Godmother Foundation of NY. The Fairy Godmother Foundation of New York, Inc.™ has been "Making Dreams Come True" since 2017 by granting manageable, meaningful dreams and experiences to enhance the quality of life of children and young adults living with complex medical, mental health, physical or developmental needs. The club donated $250 to their cause.

She shared a great story about how she got started with her non for profit and is definitely doing some outstanding work with her charity. I want to share and Instagram comment from our page, by president Rosane . This woman is an Angel. She formed a Not For Profit making natural hair wigs for those with hair loss from illnesses. Amazing to have her as a program at our club!! Thank you, Suzanne at Hair We Share! I' was happy to have Suzzane in and connect with someone else in the area who is doing excellent work in the community

Tim made an announcement about the new purchase of property that the town of Southampton made and has plans for new beach access. Laurie received her new presidential plaque. They talked about the new dream for their existing property on North Sea Rd. The mission of the North Sea Maritime Center, a 501(c)3 organization at the Historic Tupper Boathouse, is to preserve Southampton's maritime heritage through educational and recreational programs that increase the awareness and relevance of historical and contemporary marine activities. The tradition of wishing well for the new year is ancient, dating back to the Babylonians and Romans, but the specific phrase "Happy New Year" became common in English during the 18th and 19th centuries, popularized by letter writing, almanacs, and later, mass-produced greeting cards. The New York New Years ball as some storied history. In 1907 they changed New Years from a fireworks display to the current tradition of dropping the ball lowered on a flag pole. In the 1980s they changed it to drop by computer. It's changed color and has been made lighter, and heavier throughout the course of history. Right now the ball has 589 LED bulbs on it. Our program was Alaina Nathan from our local branch of the Alzhiemers Association located in Melville. Alaina is our local representative for the organization. She talked about the most common form of dimensia. It's caused by the build up of plaque in the brain. The club made a donation to Alz.org of $250. Meeting began with the prayer and the pledge. Tim made an announcement about his Chesnut hike through Elliston Park. He also gave us some background on Chesnuts on how they are becoming scarce. Hike starts at 9:45am, 40 Millstone Road this Saturday. Southamptontrails.org for more info. We will be at the Publick House on January 22nd at 5:30pm for a cocktail party, bring new guests. Tom Guldi was our sargent, Harold won the 50/50. We were fined for not doing the Polar Bear Plunge this Saturday. The deepest lake in the world is Lake Baikal, located in Siberia, Russia, reaching a depth of over 1,600 meters (5,387 feet) at its deepest point in an active rift valley, also making it the world's largest freshwater lake by volume, holding about 20% of the Earth's unfrozen surface freshwater. Our program was Evie and Trisha from Sag Harbor Food Pantry, they last visted us in 2020. They told us about their participation in the pantry. Concentrating on bringing in fresh foods. They deliver 15 meals per week. They also did 102 meals on Thankgiving 125 on Christmas. Both are stepping down after a long run managing the pantry. We donated $250 to help their cause.

Tim talked about the Canal project and plans for another spot for a new buoy on the Hampton Bays side. We had a couple of repeat rotarians visiting so they were off the late list. Lynda was fined for not answering email. We learned Sam Cooke the king of soul was shot killed this day in history. Paul who struggles to spell words correctly and was asked to spell the camp, and responded with a valid attempt. I will continue to work on my spelling. Also on this day, Yankee Legend Joe Dimaggio called it quits from baseball. The Mona Lisa was stolen in 1911 in Florence, Italy. Also Tattoos create weak lymphatic systems that lead to weaker muscles. Why did Santa go to music school?....to improve his wrapping. What happens when you deep fry Santa? , you get a Krisp Kringle. The cub scouts are having a ceremony on 1/3/26. Today our impromptu guest was Jimmie Smiley. Known as the charitable Chef, Jimmy told us stories about how he cooked 1000 Dinners after years of building it up from 35. He was also involved in providing sunday meals 400 every sunday during the Covid year. The club decided to donate $250 to Belkys Asturias who is dealing with a death in the family, and 7 foster children to support.

Our program was Mary Crosby from East End Hospice. We learned they were awarded 5 star rating from Medicare. Focus on home care, they have 6 beds for impatient care. The club donated $250 to East End Hospice.

We talked about reaching out to 27east for publicity for next weeks event . Tim is hosting a hike this week at Mulvah Hill 320 Brick Kiln in Sag Harbor. Tom Guldi talked about Veterans Day celebration in Agawam Park. Rosane talked about our Shippy's visit and the unpaid bar bill. We talked about not discussing business at our night meetings and just have it be a social gathering. Rosane stressed the importance of bringing new people to our night meetings events. The board will be actively pursuing different locations to host meetings in addition to going to Shippys. Mary Kelly was our sargent, Vicki won the 50/50. We were quizzed on Daylight Savings Time and she shared her wisdom on the subject. Our program was Ragan Ingram and Theresa Roden from I tri. We donated $250 before Theresa had to leave. The Flying Point Foundation for Autism, a 501(c)3 non-profit, offers an eight-day summer camp for children with autism alongside their typical developing siblings and peers, as well as social and recreational events, scholarships and teacher grants. Tom pointed out that Alexis had leaves on the back of her jacket. The rotary club first met in a house that used to be in the CVS parking lot. I learned that Toronto won the World Series in 1992. Patrick Barry from Camp Pa Quatuck was our program. He told us about all the challenges that the camp has been navigating. He told us a great story about a camper's parents who have not been on vacation in 15 years. Pat also presented the club with a challenge: to come feed the camp next summer. He also presented a copy of their wish list. I'm always impressed to hear about the camp. We visit the camp a lot, as our Happenings meetings are located there a few times a year. I hope we can come together and accept Pat's challenge to feed the camp next summer. He also provided a wish list of what they are looking for to help the camp out in their operations. We appreciate Pat for visiting us today and provided a check for $250

Tim and Southampton Trails is hosting a hike this Saturday through Elliston Park, 75 Millstone Brook Rd 9:15am. Beau and Southampton Animal Shelter are hosting a fundraiser on 10/21/25 at Union Burger Bar. Tickets are $79 in advance, $99 at the door. Our packing of the annual food boxes will take place at 11am at the Southampton Fire station #2. We approved at $5,000 budget for Rob Gill to purchase food at Stop & Shop. Karen was our sargent, Laurie won the 50/50. 8 of hearts was picked. In honor of our guests we were quizzed on education. Our program was Project Most represented by Rebecca & Lorretta. Project Most inspires students to open their eyes to the possibilities of the world through enriching programming that allows them to learn, create, express themselves, and help others. The club presented them with a check for $250.

Sunday schermeyer who is running for Town Clerk, was visiting us. She gave us a briefing on all of the good work they are doing in the Hampton Bays office of the building department. Our program was Nick & Alexx from Southampton Ocean Village Rescue. "Southampton Village Ocean Rescue (SVOR) is a volunteer first responder organization that responds to calls 24/7 year-round. Our members are dedicated to making expeditious and safe water rescues at all unprotected beaches in Southampton Village. Our rescuers are ocean lifeguard and CPR certified. We believe that one drowning is too many!" I mailed them a donation for $250.

He's now doing well working for Bank of America, we appreciate him reaching out to us, and for sharing his story. Mary Kelly was the sargent and quizzed us all on the Fall Season. We learned the last leaves to change are from Oak trees. The Harvest Moon is the fulll moon prior to the 2nd equinox. Pumpkins are a kind of fruit because they have seeds. Monarchs are the last butterfly to leave the area, which i learned a dinner one night in Port Jeff when a person from the other table overhead us talking about butterflies and told us about her experience. The Pumpkin latte came into existance in 2003. Our program was Rollstone Foundation, Pam and Michael were visiting. This is the first time we've had them in for a program. Rollstone Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization with the mission of aiding in the adoption of Special Needs Children worldwide. Two rotarians walk into a bar and this is what happens. It's an incredible organization and it was great to have them tell us their story today.

We talked about last week's Fresh Air Home and shared some highlights. We are getting ready for Southamptonfest, October 3rd, tickets willl be on sale soon. We are looking for 10 rotarians who are interested in attending the Gift of Life Gala, it's $150. Tom Guldi was sargent, Rosane won the 50/50. Tom talked told us about Hill Street which was noisy back in the 1930s. 1958 Hawaii and Alaska joined our nation. In 1858 the Lincoln/Douglas debates took place. PETA was founded in 1980. Our program was Bonnie, Lucas, and Jessica from The Center (Bridgehampton Child Care & Recreation Center). The Center is a community based institution for all underserved children families from Islip to Montauk that educates, empowers and encourages self sufficiency. Asking everyone to show up at 10:45am, wrapping up at 2pm. Rosane made an announcement about the Gift of Life: Gala, asking 10 people to join us for the gala, looking for a contribution of $150. The gala is on September 13th. Tim Corwin made an announcement about this Saturday's hike through Tuckahoe Woods, 9am. We talked again about the flower sale to possibly happen around Valentines Day, and to sell roses. We'll continue to research this. Welcome to Southampton Sign, featuring all of the Southampton Clubs. We are starting to fill out the application and keep the club updated. Harold Wilson was our sargeant, and Paul won the 50/50. Again, i carried the bucket missed the questions but i have to say Harold had some stumpers to ask and raised a lot of money in the bucket today. Our program was Elizabeth Harlan, she was here to talk about her book Becoming Harley Klien, i think many of us were fascinated by the plot, some of us purchased the book. The wheel symbolizes how meetings were rotated amongst people's businesses. President Eisenhower was a rotarian of the Adalene, Kansas club. Currently in 200 countries. Bill Gates was an honorary rotarian. Also Bob Hope. Arthur was our program. He provided some great ways to improve your mental health. He engaged us in some excersises designed to help. I hope you all learned a lot from Arthur's Visit.
We met a little early with district Governor Lydia Wells. Couple of things we touched upon to improve the club. Interact club running the meeting in the future? We talked about Harold's email again and how he wants people to respond. Feel free to reach out to Harold. Rosane gifted Tom Guldi a red sargent hat, also Lynda received a pink rotary hat. Lynda read a thank you from Scholorship recipent Emma Vail. Michael O'Sullivan resigned for rotary and made a donation on his behalf. A committee was created to start a new fundraiser selling plants. Rosane talked about her flag project for veterans and Lydia added that the Greenport Rotary does the same fundraiser. We are trying to form a committee for that too. Please let us know. Tom Guldi was our sargent. Paul C was back in the winners circle winning the 50/50. I had to carry the bucket so i missed a lot of the routine. But it was great seeing everyone at the same time as we had 25 rotarians in the house for this meeting. Assistant Governor Mark Strecker introduced District Governor Lydia Wells. Lydia has a background in education and a strong connection to Ryla. Lydia has a wealth of information to share with Rotary. It was great to go around the room and talk about everyone's individual journey's with the question, Why did you join Rotary? Lot's of interesting answers. It was good to hear Lydia talk about building strong relationships and bonds. As the focus with declining membership continues to be an issue worldwide. We have some great people in the club and we should be thankful that we have this club and able to share time together in everything that we do. Meeting began with the pledge and the prayer. We extended prayers to Ed D who was in for procedure. We made a donation to Rotary District in Texas for the devestating floods . We talked about Harold's email and some of the good and bad the comes from it. Ideas of a beach party for August could be in the works. We will be celebrating the 50 years of Peace poles with a new pole at the Bridgehampton School soon. Karen Acker was given a Paul Harris award her 3rd. Karen was also the sargent today. Tom G won the 50/50. This day was James Cagney and Phyllis Diller's birthday. Karen embraced a little multiple choice today. The Spanish Civil War was in 1936. In 1954 Disney televised their opening of Disneyland in California. TWA Flight 800 crashed into the Long Island Sound. Karen finished with jokes about the hear, in honor of our program. Robbie Dunno of Gift of Life had so much to say he actually started talking right when lunch began. The Gift of Life charity does so much and all of their stories are truly inspiring and it really draws you in. I've been following Gift of Life for a long time, this is the 2nd time we've had them in for a program. And the board members speak at Happenings all the time. It's just incredible their impact on the world. We also watched a video from some people in Zimbawe as Rob Rylman is on site. A personalized message for the Southampton Rotary Club which was awesome. Hopefully we can gather some folks together to go and celebrate the amazing 50 years and their impact. We appreciate Robbie coming in on short notice and keep us current on Gift of Life
Meeting began with the prayer and the pledge. Rosane talked about the success of the Southampton Breakers baseball game that took place on Wednesday. We dropped off a vegetable hero that was left over to Heart of the Hamptons. James talked about the 8k race and the success and things that need to be improved upon. We will be working on getting our 2nd pole installed at Bridgehampton High School. Rosane brought Mary up to give out the charter for the Interact Club for Bridgehampton. The club agreed to donat $500 to the rescue effort in Texas. Mary was our sargeant, Ed D wins the 50/50. A group of cats is a clouder. A sentence that uses all of the letters is called a pangram. Salt was used as currency in ancient Rome. A group of pugs is called a grumble. Bubble wrap was originally meant to as wall paper. Our program did not show up.
I was excited to get an email about the Southampton Breakers Game and to get it on the schedule for July 9th. This day the Breakers would take on the North Fork Ospreys. After a little bit of deliberation we decided to get food from Sean's Place. We purchased chips and snacks off of Amazon. We also bought water's from Peconic Beverage, and ice from 7-11 and Stop N Shop. We also purchased a cooler from West Marine. We drove two cars onto the field getting the ok first from Southampton High School. We used Paul's car as a refrigerator to keep the food cold. We set up a tent behind the visitors dugout , setup the tables in L formation and served the players around 7pm. I brought my speaker to play for music . Very fun day, the announcer came by to say thank you. Everyone was very appreciative. And the Breakers ended up beating the Ospreys. I watched a little of the game, but it was hard to see with the dugout in the way. The sacrifices that these college players make for our entertainment, is very inspiring.
It was a perfect day for a Southampton 4th of July Parade. The Interact Students tossed out 250 frisbees with the Rotary Wheel on them in the first 15 minutes!! Such an awesome time spent with these young and energetic “Future Rotarians”! Rosane rings the bell for the first time in 2025, we started with the pledge and the prayer. Rosane announced the rotary theme for this year "Unite for Good" . Joan was here to have lunch with us. We talked about our upcoming sponsorship for Hamptons' Collegiate Baseball. Get in touch with Rosane or myself. We will be serving food at Southampton High School around 6pm. The game starts at 4pm. James talked about the race and passed around the sign up list again. Lynda read a thank you note sent my scholarship winner Jillian Switocha. Beau made an announcement for Fresh Air Home, scheduled for August 14th. They have clowns, and magicians. Joy was given her award for her work with the Holiday Party and Day of Service. NSFD is having their carnival this weekend. Karen Acker wins the 50/50. Joy gave happy dollars for 50 years at Sun River Health. Ed gave happy dollars for 55 years as a rotarian. Rosane also talked about getting the peace poles at the schools. Charlie McArdle, the superintendant of highways for Town of Southampton was our program. It was wonderful to listen to his trial and error method of addressing the problems with our traffic. Unfortunately there's not much that he has control over. It was great to listen to Charlie who has a lot of experience and has a practical approach to his job.

She talked about her non-profit where they have 5 studios available . They are currently fundraising to earn money to replace their roof. They are located on the local channel 20. They not only post on their TV channel but on youtube, facebook, and instagram. They host internships for high school and college. It was interesting to learn more about what they do and their impact on the community of Southampton, and East Hampton. LTV was presented a check for $250
Our meeting began with cocktails at 5:30pm. The mood was set to classical music provided by Hamptons DJ, at Laurie's request. Laurie rang the bell, we did the prayer and the pledge. Paul introduced Laurie. Laurie presented our awards with Academy Theme music, and a red carpet. We had a few Rotary dignitaries present Tom Crowley, Lydia Wells, Pamela Greene. Laurie gave a Paul Harris Fellow to John Larkin. Tom Crowley said some nice words about Rosane. Rosane and Paul presesented the new plaques for the Past Presidents. Paul received a Paul Harris Fellow, and the Rotarian of the Year for 2025. Lydia did the oath of office to Rosane, and the officers. We presented a slide show that the Opening Act created. There was tremendous effort from Rosane, Laurie, and Paul to bring together this special day and I told Mom on Monday. We throw a great party and she agreed with me. Look below for the photo gallery
Paul is on vacation this week, so things are not as they should be……….the meeting started with the pledge and the prayer. Laurie welcomed all the Senior Students from Southampton and Bridgehampton with Mary Kelly and Nick Dyno assisting. We had 3 Students who needed to leave early to be back in time for test-taking. Karen Acker was Sergeant. The day was named Rose Day, and Karen gave each Student a rose after asking them a question. Roy Wines Sr was in attendance and gave $100 happy dollars that his granddaughter was awarded one of the Rotary College Scholarships. He stated he’s been a member of the Southampton Rotary for 50 years, and 25 years ago was President of the Club. What an honor to have him with us this day. The 50/50 was won by Alexis and the Jack of hearts is still in the deck!! We honored each of the remaining Students with their certificates, and a group photo was taken. There were many happy dollars flying to acknowledge the students and their accomplishments. We are very proud to support such amazing students with scholarships. These Scholarship Luncheons always give us a great feeling of contributing to our promising youths.

Our program was Aiyanna Smith, from Blossom Sustainable Development. A former Southampton Rotary Scholarship winner, Aiyanna's focus of her organization involves attention to substance abuse. Something she came interested in through her time living on the reservation. The goal is complete rehabilitation, and recovery. They adopted an online program Path to Peace which focuses on acheiving peace holistically. Her goal was to help her people and other traveling communities and hopes to reach a national level someday. We also had Amanda visiting from Ace Handyman, also considering membership. Seamus talked about Spaghetti Dinner, 280 dinners sold, about 15,000 in sponsorship money. It was a great effort, and I really enjoy being apart of this team. Amazing job Seamus, Michael G, Rob G, and everyone else who makes this event so special. Mark Crandall was our program, he runs a charity called Hoops 4 Hope. Mark talked about growing up in Amagansett and being a rotary exchange student. He ended up in Zimbabwe. He talked about his work in the area for over 30 years. He's continued his passion for protecting the environment into his project Mecox Bay Conservancy which is working on cleaning up Mecox Bay. He's gained 4 grants and continues to work on more. The group has raised a million dollars so far and continues to advocate for house IAS systems to help protect the water. Mecox was voted one of the 10 worst bodies of water and the direct effects of pollution on property value. We appreciate Jay for stopping by rotary and educating our members. Our first night meeting began with the prayer and the pledge. Alexis M won the 50/50. Paul was fined for misspelling the word sergeant. I promise to work on my spelling. Tom Guldi took the reigns as Sergeant. This date in history the Canterbury Tales in 1932. Vicki dropped a little old english from the book that had us stunned. The accent too, excellent. Jennifer Hartnagel from Group of the East End was our guest. Since 1972, Group for the East End has led the way in protecting and restoring the environment of eastern Long Island through education, conservation, and advocacy. They talked about their programs geared toward educating the youth which includes bringing them out of the classrooom. They talked about there program bringing osprey's back from almost being extinct and how they are now evolving into different habitat. We were in the Shinnecock Room for today's meeting. Pledge and Prayer. Seamus made a spaghetti Dinner announcement, Paul went over some new procedures with Spaghetti Dinner. All members will get 6 tickets and be responsible for $180. Tickets are $30 each. Seamus announced that Connect One/First National Bank will be sponsoring the event. Event is May 19th. I was asked to create a past presidents email list. We talked about next week's meeting that will begin at 5:30pm. I've invited all of the clubs via email, lions, kiwanas, and masons. A cat with no legs is ground beef, a cat with 2 legs is lean beef. Southampton Town agreed to a settlement so that people can ride on to the beach. Very happy to hear that , something i enjoy doing that's hasn't been there the last couple of years. Our program was John Venterella from Southampton Little League. They are operating the league for Southampton, and Sag Harbor. Ages 5-12. Tball, rookie, minors, and softball, with a few travel teams. He talked about all of the sponsorship opportunities that exist. The challenges of getting enough girls to play softball. I also found it interesting that everything is coed. The installation dinner has been moved to June 19th. We had a very different meeting with Rosane asking questions to the membership. The members asked for financial transparency with club finances. We talked about having a club assembly. Tim asked for help from Rob Gill on fixing the rotary clock. Tim Corwin won the 50/50 but chose the 10 of clubs. Club also agreed to start contributing money to the Rotary Foundation, $100/member
Great attendance for today's meeting. Rosane met Regina at Pels at the conference over the weekend. She is the president of the Newburgh rotary club. Mark Hannan introduced everyone from the Town of Southampton who was in attendance. Sean D talked about East End Media Initiative which is now live on WLNG. With print ads going in the press, and newletters blasts going out to mailing list subscribers in the coming weeks. A great way to guide people to becoming members of rotary out here. Sargent Tom Guldi filled in . Rosane wins the 50/50. This date in 1912 cherry trees were planted outside of the white house, the trees came from Japan. Hoover had the telephone installed in the White House in 1929. In 1964 there was an earthquake in Alaska. In 1977 two airplanes crashed into each other. Our program was the busy Bill Manger who updated us all on everything he's working on in Southampton. Projects include a new roof for the arts center. New paint job at Village Hall, including the flags being returned to the building. Vets Hall also got a new roof. He announced a balanced budget with no tax increases. He talked about Southampton Inn expansion, which will include 8 new workforce housing units. Village Pizza taking over for Paul's, the new Southampton Movie Theater. The installation of solar panels, a new cell tower behind Watermill Fire Dept. And cleaning up Lake Agwam and Southamptonfest success. We always enjoy having the mayor visit us at Rotary.

The president that aquired the most land was James Polk. James K. Polk oversaw a significant expansion of US territory, including the annexation of Texas, the acquisition of the Oregon Country, and the Mexican Cession (present-day states of California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, and parts of New Mexico, Colorado, and Wyoming. There are 2 new bocce courts being placed in Southampton. We all had a giggle with Mark Hannon writing on Tom Guldi's pad and the constant phone ringing from Ed D. So when the game resumes next week, we will be using the new deck. Members are encouraged to NOT RIP THE CARDS, we will be taking the picked cards out of the deck in a seperate envelope. Jamie Bowden was our program presenting Honor Flight, Long Island. An Honor Flight is conducted by non-profit organizations dedicated to transporting as many United States military veterans as possible to see the memorials of the respective war they fought in Washington, DC, at no cost to the veterans. Flights are done twice per year in Spring and Fall. At the moment they are just doing Vietnam. Jamie is also involved in Veteran Affairs, she talked about Hometown Hero Banners, and promoting military discount cards for veterans with local businesses. The meeting began in the lobby with our annual picture day. 6 members were represented with cut outs. I thought a fight was going to break out with different members fighting over who they were going to hold up lol. When i walked in from the picture i was overwhelmed a great attendance for our semi annual Students of the Month celebration. Laurie opened the meeting with the prayer and the pledge. We enjoyed a great lunch prepared by the Southampton Inn. After lunch, Dr Nick Dyno introduced Mary Kelly and Dr. Morrell. Told us a little bit of history of how the rotary club started and how we continue this honored tradition today. Dr Kelly presented our 4 award recipients from Bridgehampton School. Dr Morrell presented awards to Early Act, Opening Act, and Interact. Nick Cerrato was presented with a check for winning the 1st Quarter of Superbowl Boxes. We learned a group of flamingos is a Flamboyance. Q is the only letter that is not included in one of our 50 states. Venus is the only planet that rotates clockwise. People used urine as mouthwash. Alaska has the longest coastline. A word using letters forwards and backwards is a palindrome. Google search was originally called backrub . Only sport played on the moon is golf. Our program was the Southampton Robotics club. There are doing some tremendous work. The team is competing in competitions that could lead them to competing in Texas. Nick Dyno had an idea to do a leadership conference with the student rotary clubs. Sean spoke about East End Media Inititive. Full speed ahead on this 10 week campaign spread over radio, newsletter, and print. Greenport, East Hampton, Southampton, and Westhampton will all be participating and the cost will be based on the total membership. Conversation broke out about a joint holiday party. Enjoy streams and vernal ponds, an incredible overlook across the bays and we hike to the shore of Big Fresh Pond. Four miles of moderately hilly terrain. Leashed dogs welcome. Led by Tim Corwin. Sean D who has been working on an print, radio, and newsletter campaign with all the rotary districts met with East Hampton and received approval. We talked about how Sean can get in touch with the rest of the district. I emailed a list to him on Thursday night to keep momentum going on this project. The campaign will be about increasing membership in rotary. Dennis Lamb (new member prospect) stood up and told us a little about what he does for a living, family life, etc. We look forward to Dennis Lamb joining us in membership soon. We were excited to find out that Tim Corwin was in 27east this week, page A17 for a reconstructed pedestrian bridge along Paumanok Path, well done Tim. Our program after a couple of reschedules was Dr. Gregory Armstrong. Greg talked about how we can be better prepared to have energy throughout the day. His 3 points of mention were 1. A rotation golf drill, stand up do a golf swing and then move the swing up and down. He suggested 2 minutes. 2. Exposing yourself to natural light in 60 minuts of waking up. This starts your 16 hour internal clock that triggers sleep . 3. Non sleep Deep rest. Eyes close lay flat and just be mellow for 15 minutes. He also touched on eating whole foods and mentioned the body isn't programmed to eat all of the processed stuff that's overwhelms our food choices these days. I know when I see an engaged crowd, i know that i found the right program for today's meeting. I will be inviting Dr Armstrong back to talk to us about some other issues as we enjoyed his time spent with us at rotary today.

We had a guest/future member Dennis Lamb as our guest. Dave Myers & Natasha owners of Stop N Shop Southampton. Also in attendance were Manny (Head Chief of Southampton Fire Dept) & Sophie Escobar (daughter) It was a Thankgiving Reunion with our program Molly Bishop all in attendance. Laurie gave out Thank You Certificates for everyone's work on the Thanksgiving Boxes fundraiser. Travis was our sargent, Laurie won the 50/50. Rob volunteered to hold the bucket. Travis purchased a book of 50,000 facts. We learned 78% of the brain is water. The octopus has more than 3 brains, leeches have 32 brains. I would hate to have that headache. The Statue of Liberty's original use was as a lighthouse. The build houses in England 5 stories high, and 6 feet wide. China has the most skyscrapers. An adult king cobra is 18 feet. Molly Bishop was our program, she talked about being in a new facility. Many students in Southampton rely on the free breakfeast and lunch. Heart of the Hamptons have delivered 476,000 meals to people this year up from 133,000. Most people that receive help are the working poor. Laurie thanked everyone for participating in the Holiday Party. We have decided NOT to meet over the next two Thursdays, with plans to resume on January 9th. Mary had a holiday theme to her questions. There's a town called Snowflake in Arizona. Three gifts the wise men presented are Murryh, Frankincense and Gold. Mary reference the fictional holiday of Festivus, the airing of grievances. 1.6 Billion holiday cards go out, but how many actually get delivered and end up on the refrigerator? It takes 7 years to grow a Christmas Tree. There are 9 candles on a menorah. There is actually a town in Alaska called North Pole. The North Pole doesn't have a time zone. The legend of Rudolph the red nosed reigndeer started in 1939. Eddison is credited with the invention of Christmas lights. The biggest light show is in Williamsburg Virginia. Our program was Chris from Go Primal Lifestyle, a mental health survivor . He told us about his story overcoming losing his dad early in life, the lows, bottoming out and then using his experience in a positive way. We thank Chris for stopping in to visit us and we wish him the best in using his experience to help men who struggle with issues of mental health.

Good crowd of 25 proud Rotarians visited us this week. We had one guest Ryan Nelson of Lord Lane Newsletter. I suggest his newsletter it tells you what's going on in Southampton and local areas. Vicki made our Holiday Party announcement 12/12. Robert Gill made an announcement for next week's packing of the Thanksgiving Boxes. Next week at Hampton Road Fire Station. Definitely looking forward to packing the boxes and heading upstairs for lunch. The kids have been busy this week packing the boxes. Pictures are below. The rotary wheel was definitely turning this week with everyone who's involved with the planning of this annual event. It's great to experience the teamwork that this club is known for. I've reached out to 27east, and I will get everything over to district when everything is handed in. Travis was our sargent. Coincidently also winning the 50/50 and finding the Jack of Hearts, Congrats to Travis Corwin for winning our latest drawing. So we reset with a new deck next week. We learned about Martin Strel and his accomplishments on swimming entire rivers. We were also fined for liking pickles. Travis also shared a podcast he's been listening to about kid's curiosities and a program dedicated to earthworms. Our program was Debbie & Bill from Gregg's Wings. They discussed their amazing contributions to childhood cancer. They told us about their golf outing and where some of the money is used for at the Cancer Center for kids. Our meeting began with the prayer and the pledge. Tom had his son Brendon as a guest. We are a GO! for our Holiday Party on 12/12. Flyer is up. Check the newsletter for more information. Mark Hannon requested that we decided to invite our marketing specialist Angie and a guest to attend our holiday party for free, and was accepted by all members. If you have not sent in your Septemberfest money in, please do so it is $210 for the required 10 tickets. Karen Acker was our sargent, Michael Sullivan won the 50/50 picked the Ace of Diamonds. Reminder to everyone, to PLEASE VOTE! In 1978 John Carpenter directed the movie Halloween. Why did the monster go to the bar? For the boos. Why do girl ghosts diet? To keep their goolish figures. How do you know if a mummy is sick? They can't stop caughing. Our guest was Medhat Allam , a local doctor who started a charity, what is now Operation International . I was very impressed listening to Medhat tell stories of his visits to poverty stricken countries to perform surgeries. His charity now has 24 chapters, serving about 80 million people. They cover every medical area of expertise. They have designated teams in different area of the world. And they do one week missions to help people. Very inspiring charity. The movie clip that we saw about the surgery that they were unable to do was very emotional and gave us some interesting perspective on how difficult it can be to deliver the news good or bad.

Karen won the 50/50 but didn't pick the jack of hearts. Paul stepped in a sargent and we played Super Trivia. Table 1 answered the most questions correctly. I think the game was well received. Some challenging questions in there, but the visuals definitely stumped the rotary faithful. I Promise to work on my routine an as i missed some important steps, as i was concentrating on the game. Inspired by the great Lynda D, who used to do this when we needed sargent. Bonnie Grice was our program, she spoke about her work in radio for over 30 years . I worked at the student radio station adjacent to Bonnie for a few years while attending Long Island University: Southampton. She spoke about her theater project Boots on the Ground which is being performed at the Southampton Cultural Center. I'm amazed on the amount of events that they are doing at the cultural center as they continue to be the leader in giving back to the art community. They are holding their annual fundraiser on November 9th from 6-9pm. Tickets are $115, and $50 for people under 29. We were caught up to speed on birds. I got my quiz question wrong. Vulchers and Seaguls travel at 37,000 feet. A Krobar is a good way to break into a birdhouse. Most birds migrate to Wisconsin. Tom G gave a happy dollar as he made a new friend by approaching a new person on a ferry. Tom will also serve as MC for Veterans Day. There is a 10am meeting on Saturday to talk about the Southampton Sewer Project. Rachel Destephano was our program from Amaryllls Farm. She told us about her passion horses and educated us on horses and the life the live. Some of it was sad . This 501c is responsible for saving 35 horses in the area with 5 locations. The horses after 20 years of life require a lot of attention. We were educated about the horses life. Rachel was nervous and a little uncomfortable speaking to us but she was extremely passionate about her work and I'm glad that we got to hear her story. I learned a lot about horses that i wasn't aware of. I hope we get to invite her back to rotary in the future.
Our meeting began with the prayer and the pledge. We had 2 new prospective members Maria and Yana. We met Yana through a rotary inquiry via our website. She was eager to learn about everything that we do. Also spoke with Maria about her, and her profession. It was great to sit at the head table with Lauri, and Alexis to share what we do and learn about new people, as we try to increase our membership. I encourage everyone to reach out to new faces and say hello. Lauri spoke about our golf outing, and the great day we were blessed with. Alexis spoke about Septemberfest kickoff party and her experience being that it's a lot of work. But usually we shined Friday night. Be sure to say a big Thank you to Mark Hannan, and Alexis for the wonderful rotary spirit they showed by throwing a great party. We would also like to thank Angie from Callio Marketing as she was responsible for the flyer and thank you that was in the Southampton Press this week. Guest Maria won the 50/50. Paul and Karen split table stakes. The Jack of hearts is still alive in the deck, still early in the going. Grover Cleveland ran 3 times for the president. William Jennings Bryant was known famously for being the prosecuter in the Scopes Monkey Trial. We carefully towed the line with politics today as we talked about presidential feuds. Octoberfest was created not out of love for harvest but by King Ludwig's wedding who was the king of Bovaria. A clever fine for the prayer was issued to Vicki. Our program was Gigi's playhouse, a program i investigated online and thought it was different and interesting. Their mission (taken from their website) To change the way the world views Down syndrome and to send a global message of acceptance for all. Great energy delivering their message today and it sounds like they are doing some great work in Patchogue and covering Long Island. We donated $250. I hope they enjoyed their rotary experience, i hope to have them back in the future as a guest program
Septemberfest was launched Friday night, during our annual Kickoff Party. I arrived at the venue at 5pm to setup my equipment. Met with band to discuss the agenda, changed agenda. I finished up and check in on our volunteers from time to time. We also had some issues with the QR Codes. I played this set and was excited to rock the stage and get everybody in a good mood.

What a beautiful day for our bi annual golf outing at Shinneock. Today i was the assistant on photos. We took everyone's picture and we took them to CVS. Had them printed and returned with them to put them in frames. I learned a lot about one of the important duties that makes the event a success. It was great to see some of our Rotarians taking the challenge of one of the most difficult courses in the world. The outing was followed by a reception with drinks and a delicious spread of food. Meeting began with the prayer and the pledge. 3rd string Quarterback James Grossi filled in for our vacationing presidents. We had a returning guest Barbara. Tim announced a hike for this Saturday at Ellington Park. Terri Kiernan stopped by to try to recruit volunteers for registration and needs someone to take pictures for the Shinnecock Golf Outing scheduled for next Thursday. Please reach out if your interested in helping next Thursday. Travis was our sargent. Mary wins the 50/50 but it was the 7 of diamonds that peaked out of the deck. I was happy to understand why i wanted pancakes yesterday morning as it was National Pancake Day. This is the day we celebrate Johnny Appleseed for his many accomplishments. There are over 1100 rotary clubs in Australia. Argentina is the highest via elevation, California the lowest. Towels are the #1 contributor for dry skin. This date in 1969 the Brady Bunch started it's run on television. The Eiffel Tower was originally supposed to be sent to Barcelona. Our program was Stacy & Suzie from Lucia's Angels. Their goal is to educate people on Breast Cancer. They are a Southampton charity, the money they raise goes to help local women. They have an October 1st tree lighting coming up in front of the Chamber of Commerce. Their Girls Night Out fundraiser at Gurney's is scheduled for November 9th.

Sell those tickets, or get people to get registered online. Sabrina won the 50/50, Paul C won table stakes. Mary Kelly was our sargent, and introduced a new concept. Buy a hint! I LOVE IT! We learned the snails like to hibernate, How many colors are in a rainbow. The difference between jot and tiddle. You can tell the age of a horse by looking at their teeth. Apple was the top money maker in 2022. We were without a program again, so we learned about past president Michael Gomberg who's been a financial adviser for six years. Enjoys swimming and learning to play golf. He is married for 21 years with children Maxwell 18, and Sasha 16. Michael was introduced to rotary through Matt Fogarty. Spoke highly about is experience as president and how rewarding the experience is. He wants to give away more schlorships. His mentor is his dad who ran a farmstand back in the day.

We donated $250 to Gift of Life for Salim who was scheduled to have heart surgery but because he had issues with their teeth. They had to delay the surgery and take care of the teeth first.

Karen Acker was our sargent and also won the 50/50. Karen picked the 2 of spades, so another week continues to find the Jack of Hearts. In 2003 country star Johnny Cash passed away. The Lascaux paintings, discovered in 1940 when some teenagers followed a dog into the cave, feature hundreds of images of animals that date to around 17,000 years ago. I was excited to hear it was National Chocolate Milkshake Day. Our program was Bianca Collins . The secretary of the Shinnecock Tribal Council. She talked about everything that goes on, on they do on the reservation and improving relations between the tribe and the community We invited her to join rotary.
Meeting began with the prayer and the pledge. We sang for Laurie's Birthday. Travis was sargent. Michael Gomberg won the 50/50, Harold and Mary split the table stakes. It was happy sex day. It was Michael Keaton's birthday. Most of us remembered Batman but couldn't name the other movies he was in. The Voyager is 24.5 billion miles away from earth when we last checked. 11 pounds of Mozzerella on Pizza's every year. Travis expressed an idea about giving away extra tickets, when many go unsold. We learned about past president, past assistant governor Ray Enstine. While sitting at the table we heard lots of old rotary stories about Ray's time in Rotary. Ray worked for Pulver Gas for 30 years. He enjoys playing guitar and chasing around his grandchildren. He's married to his wife, Wendy since 1971. He vacations to South Carolina. He joined in 1976 and has served several positions in rotary. He talked about meetings at John Ducks and past programs. Assigned seats at the bar. He participated in stealing Greenport's rotary bell. His idols are his buddy and mom. We had a good time learning about one of our rotary family members. Rosane continues to work her way through the rotary family and make sure we meet everyone.

Robin Brown was in attendance, she briefly talked about an event the town was hosting in celebration of Coopers Beach being voted the best beach in the USA. Tom Guldi was our sargent for the 2nd week in a row. Rosane won the $49 that was the 50/50 raffle. Couple of late Rotarians , Beau and Mark got fined. Rosane was voted best dressed. We sung "Happy Birthday" to Ray Enstine. This day in 1862 was the 2nd battle of Bull Run, occured. Legendary R&B singer Michael Jackson was born in 1958. Jennie Lynn was the best singer who never recorded and album, before the days of recording. Rosane introduced Beverly who runs a home healthcare business. Beverly talked about peace and how she feels people rally around Rotary. She was on a bus wearing her rotary pin, and started a conversation with a stranger on joining rotary, and she ended up influencing them to join. Also shared a story about the a wooden rotary chair showing up randomly in her house. District happenings is this Saturday. A link is available in your email. It was wonderful to be one of the first clubs to have Beverly in for a visit. She's very passionate and energetic when she talks about rotary, and we were entertained.

Lori discussed a former schlorship winner has been diagnosed with epilepsy . Dermot Dolan has pledged $1000, and the Rotary Executive board has announced they are matching the Dermot's donation $1000. The money will go to purchasing a required service animal. Great work Rotary Team! After a meal of meatballs and penne pasta. We enjoyed desert from Chrisoph's bakery. I'm glad that i accidently touched what looked like a choclate chip cookie because it was insanely good. Edoardo Simioni won the 50/50, but did not select the Jack. We welcome back Ed from a stint in the hospital. Still very early in the game. $34 dollars. Tom Guldi was sargent. We learned about the Sunrise Highway bridge that was created in 1961, 1962, and was repaired in 1973. It was in this day in history that America defeated England in sailing. The hit Sugar Sugar was 6 weeks away from hitting #1 on the pop charts. Our program was Southampton Village Ocean Rescue. They talked about their 7 saves this year included both children and adults. They have 70 volunteers, and are the first responders to all Southampton Village bodies of water. They talked about wanting to expand to beaches that currently have little no coverage and swim at your own risk areas. Thank you to Sean for fulfilling his responsibility as program. Meeting began with the prayer and the pledge. I think, i was grabbing the extra peace pole. The peace pole was dedicated to Nick Dyno, to give to the Southampton school of his choice. (Picture below), Karen Acker was the Sargent. Tom Guldi won the 50/50 but did not pick the Jack, it's way too early and chances are low. We learned that in 1912 famous chef Julia Child was born, 1943 Robert Deniro. 102 pilgrims made the original journey on the Mayflower from Southampton, England to Cape Cod, Massachusetts. They were supposed to land in Virginia. Woodstock as held on this day too in Bethel, NY. In 2023 there was a blackout in this area. India, and Pakistan were also claimed independence from British rule. Why did the janitor say when he jumped out of the closet.....Supplies. We heard from Minera Perez from OLA, and she talked about all of the great projects her organization is doing for children. She talked about help line, and Youth connect, Healthy East End, and offering 22 scholarships to students in need. Mary also shared a story on how OLA helped her retain a teacher. We always enjoy hearing from organizations like Rotary and especially those who help children.

Emma stood up and thanked us for supporting her at the RYLA conference. Karen won the 50/50. Seamus got fined for drinking diet root beer. We had a cookie fall on the floor during desert. Travis was our sargent. It was National $1 day. Simon Chase was the first person to appear on the bill back in 1862. I didn't realize that there is so much going on artwise on the dollar bill with 13 layers of a pyramid. Many sources say the crispy spuds were most likely invented in the country's northeast neighbor, Belgium. According to lore, the dish was born in Belgium in the winter of 1680, when the fried fish-loving denizens of a city called Namur had to find something else to cook when the local river froze over. Doctor Doctor I need some help. I didn't realize that so many rotarians hands weren't working so I called in program Dr Fufa hand specialist. The faithful were so excited that the doctor was in. Dr Fufa was asked many questions related to hand injuries. Let's give Dr Fufa a hand for helping us out with the program.
We definitely had a lot going on as we welcome in August. It all started with Laurie giving Mary Kelly her 4th Paul Harris Award (picture is below). Mark Hannon made a Southamptonfest announcement for October 3rd. Ed D got so excited when Sean won the 50/50 that he spilled his drink. Sean also won the big money $413 as the Jack of Hearts showed his face (picture is below). Laurie and Paul won best dressed. We talked Olympics with the USA leading the way in Paris in total metals and golds. France in 2nd, China in 3rd. Water boat racing didn't make it as an olympic sport, neither did live pigeon shooting. How do you make a tissue dance? You put a little boogie into it. Our program was Lonnie Sherman with General Needs. He shared some great stories about helping veterans out with certain situations. Also talked about a great story about giving out needed items like pillows, and boots.
We were in the Shinnecock Room for this weeks meeting. Started with the prayer and the pledge. Mark needed a replacement for Lynda on the Septemberfest committee. We had 2 guests the program and social media guru Angie Tirado, from Callie Marketing who hopes to join rotary and take over social media responsibilities for the club. She inquired about doing the social media and we are encouraging her to join. The 50/50 was won by our program Kim Degraff. Tom Guldi also picked as the cards were unavailable the week before. Karen Acker was our sargent. Rosane won best dressed. Bob Dylan performed on electric guitar at a Newport festival in 1965 inspired by "Mr. Tambourine Man" The change of sound was different and the audience eventually came around. We also learned about Svetlana Savitskaya who was the first woman to walk in space in 1984. We heard some knock knock jokes. Kimberly Degraff was our speaker. She talked about the biggest cause of damage being water . We learned that flood damage doesn't apply when water comes from the ground up.
I was one of the first to arrive at the Fresh Air Home. My first experience of being on the management end, and all of the duties that need to be taken care of to ensure a successful event. Food from Cromers Market arrived around 11:15am, volunteers transported the food from the truck over to the tables. At 12pm the foil was removed an the Fresh Air Home faithful enjoyed chicken tenders, mac and cheeze, hero sandwiches, and other delicious food. Last year i did utensils, this year i was the 2nd scooper on Mac & Cheeze. The only job on the buffet line that requires two people. After the food was done the kids enjoyed Mr. Softee and a magician. It was really nice to hear about the history of the event and how long we've been here doing this. We were fortunate to have a nice day, little bit of a breeze and it wasn't too hot. The picture gallery are down low, and also on facebook
Laurie called the meeting with the pledge than the prayer. We had a visiting rotarian Marty Gillmartin in the house. Beau talked about Fresh Air Home and that will be next week. Members are encouraged to let us know either way by clicking on here. Fresh Air starts at 11:00am Laurie took the banner to the dry cleaners and it looked really nice and white. James spoke about the firecracker 8k that occured this Sunday. We had 427 registered, 351 running/walking. Tom Guldi was our sargent, and also won the 50/50, Marty won table stakes. Our program was Lauren Krueger from Liwater.org. Gave us all some advise on how to conserve water and to use lawn fertilizers under 12 on the nitrogen scale. We would like to Thank everyone who helped us out at the race on Sunday. I know that i was running on fumes as I dj'd the previous night. Very thankful to have enough time to grab some Mickey Dees for some added punch. As we played some remixed classics off my phone and got the crowd fired up as runners and walkers crossed the finish line. I really enjoy being apart of the race team as the MC

This year we designed a float that participated in the annual 4th of July Parade. President Laurie Wiltshire, and Vice President Rosane Cassella designed the float the included a peace pole and signs for all of our student clubs. Treasurer John Larkin drove the float. We had about 15 representatives of the student clubs on the float. James Grossi also drove the car in the parade. See pictures below
We began our meeting with cocktail hour outside . I played jazz to start. Our festivities began at 6:30 with prayer and the pledge. We gave awards to all of the sargents, and officers of 2023-2024. Harold was our sargent. We passed the gavel among 15 of our past presidents. You can view to picture gallery here. Remember this week there is no meeting on Thursday. Be sure to come march in the parade if your available on Thursday. We are also still trying to get some more volunteers to man the water stations at the 8k on Sunday July 7th.

We will be sponsoring a parade float in the annual parade that will be filled with a peace pole and signs with all of the student clubs. Karen Acker was our Sargent. We found out that Tim Corwin got hurt again while hiking he fell into a hole. Paul had fun on his Vegas Vacation. Laurie shared her experience attending the annual Rocky Point Rotary Golf Tournament. She talked about Shelterbox, an initiative to help people who lost their homes due to disaster to live in a tent and fix their homes while being on their property. A marimba band from Bridgehampton High School played and the kids from Southampton Schools played games like red light green light, hot potato, duck duck goose, and the Rotarians got up to play hot potato too!! More information to come next week. Tim spoke about a new trail and hike that he will be leading this Saturday. Why does the Norway navy have bar codes on the side of their ships? So they can Scandinavian. The police blotter revealed someone was hired to transport a car from West Palm Beach, Florida to Bridgehampton and the customer never received his car. What a shame! Our program was James Moore, of Southampton Police Department K9 Unit, and Topper 7 year old German Sheppard. I thought it was interesting to hear that the dogs take commands in German.

We talked about trying to increase schlorships from 2000, to 2500. Tim spoke about a hike through Tuckahoe Swamp this past Saturday at 9:45 kiosk at 44 whites Ln. The next solar eclipse will be in 2079. It can only be viewed during a new moon. 15 states will be able to view the solar eclipse. Our program was Robert from Atlantic Marine Conservation Society. He spoke about the amount of whale strandings have increased from about 20 a year to about 200 per year . There doing some great work to try to get answers on why we are seeing so many whales die. Lori spoke about her positive experience and learned a lot from the yearly Rotary leadership training. Spaghetti Dinner price is going up from $25 to $30. Dinner will be on May 20th, at Edgewater Restaurant. We are still looking for someone to lead the Rotary Day of Service on May 18th. Some rotary members attended brunch with the Mayor. Travis C was our sargent. Ed S won the 50/50. Travis discussed National Stuff on a stick day. Cadberry company creating 1.5 billion chocolate eggs. The world's largest egg is in Alberta Canada. A police call that was discussing free donuts in a parking lot ended up being a car doing donuts in a parking lot. Our program was Conscience Point Shellfish. They talked about expansion of their facility through grants. There trying to get away from being in business and concentrate on improving the improvement of the ecosystem of clams, and oysters. Our program was Rebecca Briggs who finally showed after being in the wrong meeting for a little bit. She talked about her foundation in memory of her husband. There getting started and have introduced youth programs like changing a tire, and getting kids certified in CPR. We appreciate the efforts of Rebecca and were happy to help her out with a donation. We are looking for someone to run our annual Rotary Day of Service scheduled for 5/18/24. Interested parties should contact the board. Mary Kelly won the 50/50 but picked the wrong Jack. 51 Cards remain for a chance to pick the jack of hearts next week. We took our annual picture in the Southampton Inn lobby in front of the fireplace. Our program was Tim Corwin who shared one of his passions open water diving and cave diving. Most of his dives are between 80-130 feet. He explained some of his dives to the delight of oos and ahhs of the rotary faithful. He's done numerous dives across the world, including North Florida, and Mexico. It was very interesting getting to know Tim in a different way. We were so eager to talk to him, we started the conversation early at my table.

Someone in Southampton stole cigarettes out of someone's car. Our program was Mark & Paul from Boy Scouts & Cub Scouts, ,and they told us about their years as leaders of the Southampton Troop. Southampton Rotary enjoys supporting such an outstanding program that does so much good for kids learning about ideology that helps boys become men.

Meeting began with the prayer and the pledge. The Firecracker has a date July 7th, 2024. Tom Guldi was our sargent, Ed D won the 50/50. We learned that in 1980 the US Hockey team beat the USSR. In 1959 the first race was in Daytona. The Purple heart is given away for bravery. Our program was Paul Rubin from Camp Good Mourning. 1 in 12 American children experience death of a parent or sibling by the age of 18. They provide children's bereavement camp program for Long Island Children ages 7-17 coping with a death of a parent or sibling. Our Meeting began with the prayer and the pledge. Reminder to all Rotarians we are meeting for a picture on March 6th. We will be doing a food drive again, next week. We will remind everyone. Harold was our sargent, Ed D won the 50/50. We continue our journey next week trying to find the Jack Of Hearts. Michael G, and Kevin L were recognized in 27east for being financial power players, well done. Harold educated us on ancient rituals to how valentine's day was started. Vday cards started being mass produced in 1913. Ex President Richard Nixon dialed up a play during the Super Bowl that didn't work out well. Why should you marry a pastry chef? Because their a deserter. Amy Engel was our program and educated us about Science & Technology at Brookhaven Lab. Pretty cool things they were doing at the lab, I think we left feeling very impressed and educated.

Travis was our sargent. Paul won the 50/50 again, I used the winnings to purchase a Superbowl Box. Sales for the Superbowl boxes closed on Saturday evening after my friend Rob Gallo purchased 2 more boxes, we had 5 boxes left that were purchased by Michael and Rosane. I appreciate everyone's support on the Superbowl box fundraiser, the 25 dollar box was a great idea to get more people involved in the fundraiser. I've sold more boxes every year, and advice in how we can sell more boxes, pull me aside and let me know. Very proud of the growth and success this fundraiser has, and it's really fun to raise money this way. We learned about National Kite Day and that the Black Marlin is the fastest fish. Our program was Joseph Lorio with Ombudsmanprogram (Nursing Home Advocates). It was interesting to hear from Joe and how passionate he is about helping people in the nursing home advocate for better conditions, and treatment.
Our meeting began with a prayer and the pledge. Dermot made an announcement about a Winter Clothing Drive. They will be collecting until the end of March. Items may be dropped off at his office in Bridgehampton, he's also collecting at Southampton Inn, during meetings. Michael made an announcement about our Superbowl Pool . We have about 45 boxes left. All $25 boxes will be converted to $50 boxes. Please spread the word, we are collecting for our student scholarships and with ideas of adding a few, we need to really be aggressive in selling these boxes. If you need any info, contact chair Paul Cassella. Tom was the sargent. Ed won the 50/50 but selecting the Jack of Hearts was not to be, so the journey to find the jack of hearts continues. Tom dazzled the rotary faithful with some you might be a redneck jokes. Then he teased us with history questions. Mary was back answering questions. Our program was Katherine Yamaguchi from Contractors for Kids. She urged us to help her out on their social media channels to spread the word about their charity. They have 2 upcoming fundraising events that i've saved below. Contractors for Kids picks up the tab for unexpected expenses that occur for when people get sick. It was great having Katherine join us and talk about all of the great charity work she's doing.

Also Dog owners must provide DNA in Bolerno, Italy because of all of the access waste. Faux pax as police got called in for Neon sign in Southampton. Our guest Linda Altenburger provided us with an education on Diabetes helping the rotary understand the dangers of this horrible disease.

We learned that you can't give out candy while jumping on top of a car. Our program was Steve from the new and improved Bentley Hotel. They told us about their renovations. New Pool and event space. There mission is to provide a direction for laborers to get involved in training in the fields of trades like plumbing, and electric. They also provide assistance with getting the job too.

President Michael won the 50/50 but did not pick the J of Hearts. Mark Hannon was most likely to cry. We learned about not being allowed to play cards on Sunday in Alabama. There are no fake mustaches allowed in church in Kansas. Utah is the 45th State to enter the union. Rosane was best dressed. The continued jealousy over my new rotary shirt as I was called a traffic cone (hilarious by the way). Our program was Emily from East End Hospice. She talked about their 30 years of end of life care from Montauk to Orient Point. They are a non for profit that maintains a 5 star rating. She answered a lot of questions from the rotary faithful. We happily gave her our annual donation.
Rosane was inspired to put up a peace pole in Southampton after 2 programs by Rocky Point Rotarian Kevin Mann. As many of you know I work with Rosane, and one day she mentioned "Hey Paul, i bought the pole" I responded ok great where do you want to put it, she says "Agawam Park" . So a few months ago I reached out to new mayor Bill Manger who I invited to a Rotary Meeting, so i had his information. It wasn't too long after Rosane bought the pole that I ran into Bill at the Shell gas station in Riverhead, on my way out to poker. I mentioned to him, that we wanted to do the pole, and I would be contacting his office. Bill was familiar with peace poles so I didn't have to explain that much to him, he thought it was a good idea. A few weeks later we had a meeting with Bill, Rosane, Lynda D, myself, and President Michael Gomberg.
We had a little bit of a scare at 12pm when Main Prospect wasn't available but the hard working committee found a replacement spot and the party was back on at 75 Main. We enjoyed drinks at the bar than proceeded to sit down dinner. Marty Gilmartin won the 50/50.
Members of Southampton High School’s Interact Club volunteered their time on Dec. 9 to feed homeless community members at First Presbyterian Church of Southampton. The students spent time serving and interacting with the guests.
Our celebration began at 11am with chair, Robert Gill giving us direction. We set the food up on an assembly line, and a few members made additional boxes. The help arrived at 12pm and we got to work packing about 150 boxes of miscellaneous food items. It's amazing to see this in action and because everyone knows what we are doing and what's expected. Before you know it you have a full truck of boxes that were dropped off at Heart of The Hamptons immediately following the meeting. After a boxed lunch from Golden Pear, we proceeded with the pledge and the prayer. Holiday party and Peace Pole announcements were made next week. Holiday Party at Main Prospect in place of next weeks meeting 6pm . Peace Pole Ceremony next Saturday at 11am. Nick Dyno took over the reigns as we saluted our Students of the Month for October, November and December. Thank you everyone for your help today. Looking sharp.
Meeting began with the prayer and the pledge. My first time doing the pledge. We talked about the progresss with Peace Pole, and Peace Pole Ceremony scheduled for December 16th at 11am. Alexis spoke about the Christmas Party at Main Prospect. We gave a Paul Harris to Travis Corwin who was the Greeter, and Sargent today. Alexis won the 50/50 and had another shot at the money, but the 10 of hearts meant the contest continues another week. Lynda won best dressed. I couldn't remember that Ben Stiller was in Zoolander. We learned about the names for a Short Mom, is Mini-mum and the Empire State Building can't jump. We donated money to Southampton Volunteer Ambulance represented by Colby Gill. Our program was Beatrix from Southampton Animal Shelter talked about surrenders being up and adoption taking a big hit since Covid. They talked about the constant need for Volunteers and talked about the other services they offer.
Kevin greeted us with the pledge. Tim Corwin did the prayer. We saw Mark Hannon sporting a new winter November look. Rosane update us on peace pole progress. We are having a ceremony on December 16th, Time to be determined. Alexis and Joy updated us on Holiday Party, December 14th, Main Prospect, 6pm $50/per person. The program was Alina from Big Brothers, Big Sisters. They expressed the need for more Men volunteers. I was away in Florida playing in poker tournaments and won big. Rosane updated us about the Peace Pole. We met with the mayor and we are trying to place the pole next to the rotary clock on Jobs Lane. There trying to get the pole on the agenda for the Agawam Prak tree lighting ceremony. Tom Guldi made a Veterans Day announcement . He will be the speaker for tomorrow's ceremony. Michael O'Sullivan won the 50/50 with the chance to win $417 but choose the Queen of Clubs. Harold Wilson was our sargent. Our program was Rob from Gift of Life. He talked about all the kids that benefited from receiving cardiac assistance. He also spoke about cardiac training in other countries so that kids can get the care they deserve

Select Rotary members will be visiting the mayor's office next Thursday to discuss a plan for the peace pole somewhere in Southampton. Answer: they may get a slice. Paul was asked who was in the world series. Talking to my friends last night, i asked them the same question, It's Diamondbacks, Texas. It's great to be prepared. Rotarians were given treats if they answered a question correctly. Our program was Kristen from Camp Paquatic. They talked about the challenges about running their camp and their goals about helping people with special needs. We all received their wish list. I was very inspired. After the meeting was over, i was involved in a few conversations it sounded like the membership was moved and was interested in jumping in and helping. Our sargent was Harold. District Governor Tom Crawley paid us a visit . He handed out his theme pins, "Create Hope in the World:" Tom talked about the 3 ways to attack Mental Health issues 1. Break the Silence, 2. Students, 3. Veterans/Law Inforcement and 1st Responders. He also talked about "Doing More Rotary" his message as DG is to just do a little bit more.

We spent some time mulling over positive thoughts about the Hamas/Israeli conflict/war. Our program was Richard King who talked about his role and history in the farming industry on the East End. He's now involved as the pastor of the Cutchogue Church. I enjoyed hearing his story.
We were in the Shinnecock Room for today's meeting. We had a guest Carol who was introduced to Rotary through our successful party on Friday. Dermot reported that we have 17 4somes for Wednesday's Golf Outing at Atlantic Golf Club. Mark Hannon reminded us of what's acceptable attire for golf, no jeans. The shotgun will go off at 11:30am. If your interested in volunteering please contact Dermot. Rosane reported that the Peace Pole has been purchased. We will be looking to setup a meeting with the mayor when the pole comes in. Michael announced there is an alzheimer'swalk next Saturday. Lynda made an announcement that we will be enforcing meeting duties penalty (Desk, Program, and Greeter) with agreed fine of $10 per miss. I think this a great thing for the club going forward with the ultimate goal of having someone in every meeting role each week. We learned that there will be a weed despencery coming to Bridgehampton next to Carvel. Travis told some really great jokes, had me cracking up. Our program was John & Beth Manillo, regular guests. They are hosting a reception on November 10th from 12-4pm at the Southampton Art Center. John's art will be displayed in the gallery from Nov 9th to the 26th. We always appreciate John & Beth stopping in and giving his perspective on the lighter side of the Vietnam War.
Some poor weather brought the party inside. A great turnout. The band, Damaged Goods took the stage at 6:30pm. Hamptons DJ took the stage for two 20 minute sets the first was at 7:15pm. We appreciate their efforts in resolving this local and national issue
It's always a rewarding experience going to the Fresh Air Home and seeing all the smiling kids faces. This year i moved up from Utensils, to Macaroni and Cheese and who doesn't want eat Mac & Cheese. We had a great attendance turn out for the event. I enjoyed the food so much i got to bring home a whole tray of chicken tenders back to the house. Beau made an announcement about this week's Fresh Air Home event. Dermot made an announcement about the upcoming golf event at Atlantic Golf Club. Travis Corwin was our sergeant he talked about Watermelon Day. Talked about the death of legend, Tony Bennett. Dermot was best dressed. There are 11 Village beaches. Our program was Ann Gomberg and Julie Ratner of Ellen Hermanson Foundation, they talked about all of their work with Ellen Hermanson Foundation. We did a breast cancer exercise where everyone stood up knew someone who has suffered with breast cancer. The Ellen Hermanson Foundation there annual walk on the 20th and their Gala on the 26th.

Our program was Serena Martin of New Hour, Long Island She spoke about supporting women in jail, and some of the projects she's been working on, including a safe home they are building for 7 women.
Our new president, Michael Gomberg got to ring the bell in his first meeting as president. The meeting began with the pledge, and the prayer. We enjoyed some delicious pasta served from the Southampton Inn. We had a lot to talk about with our 8k run and installation dinner the previous week. Harold talked about the upcoming baseball game scheduled for tomorrow. Check the events section for more information. The big news came when Alexis Mayer drew the winning ticket and found the Jack of Hearts among the 7 cards that were left. Alexis won $762, congratulations. Travis Corwin was our sargent. He talked about National Fried Chicken day and flag facts. He also auctioned off a one of a kind paper weight with the Rotary logo engraved in it. Our program was Frank who talked about S.C.O.T.T. Program. A trade school initiative to encourage blue collar workers to live and work in the area.
We appreciate everyone's attendance for the induction of our new president, Michael Gomberg. The night featured music from Hamptons Dj. Sargent Harold Wilson. And inductions performed by Judge Barbara Wilson. It was a great night to reflect on the past year under Seamus Doyle's direction.

I'm always impressed with Tom's knowledge when he speaks, also shocked that we stumped him quite a bit. Our program was Susan of Southampton Day Care. She discussed the challenges of running a day care center in 2023.

Our meeting began with the pledge and the prayer. Tim Corwin announced his easter weekend hike on Saturday. We talked about Spaghetti Dinner and tickets will be distributed to the membership next week. Harold Wilson was our sargent . Our program was Mary Latham a graduate of Greenport High School who is the Founder of More Good. An inspirational story on an idea to give people more positive message while spending time in hospital waiting rooms.

We are going to be doing a beach cleanup somewhere with the Westhampton Rotary. If would like to participate in the day , please let me know. We are trying to get a t-shirt count for the day. Terri K spoke about upcoming interviews for student scholarships. This year we will be giving 6 to Southampton Students, and 1 to Bridgehampton Students. Should Southampton Rotary field a team to compete for the title? Let me know if there's any interest. Rosane Cassella will be chairing a committee on Peace Poles. Nick Dyno president all of of the Students of the Month. There names are listed below. Nick also spoke about some upcoming programs for the high school in September 2023 that he hopes to get approval for the new school year. This includes a partnership between Southampton High School, East Ed Bocces and Southampton Hospital for a program giving students some real life working experience in the hospital environment. Also a new program to help improve our teacher the shortage, giving students real life experience in childhood development. He said he hope to have the new programs instituted by 2024 school year.

Our president elect Michael Gomberg, in a kind gesture had a cardboard cutout of president Seamus Doyle so he didn't miss the picture. Dermot won the 50/50 and table stakes. Our program was presented by Tara Archer, The Butterfly Effect Project, Vivian and Shanissa came and spoke to us about there organization. With the goal of creating safe spaces for girls and boys to succeed. It was great to hear about some of the activities they are doing with the ultimate goal of putting children in a position to succeed in life. Our meeting began with president elect Michael Gomberg filling in for Seamus Doyle. We started with the pledge and the prayer. We are still in the process of picking a spaghetti dinner date. Visiting Rotarian Thomas Crowley talked about some of the things Hampton Bays Rotary is doing. Vicky won the 50/50 but did not pick the Jack of Hearts. Paul Cassella gave out a big check to Thomas Crowley for winning the 3rd Quarter of the football pool. Roy Wines also won the 1st and 4th quarter and donated his prize to Rob Gill's cause , sending the kids to a leadership conference. 2nd Quarter winner Tom Davis also donated his money back to the club.

Information on the hikes can be found on the front page on the right hand side you will see a link. Dermot Dolan spoke about a winter clothing drive . They will be accepting donations until the end of March. If you would like to participate you can bring any winter items to the meeting for Dermot to pick up, or drop off at Hamptons Risk Management on 2228 Montauk Hwy in Bridgehampton. The apparel will be given to Heart of the Hamptons. Paul Cassella announced the finale of the football pool and we picked the numbers. There will be an email sent on the final box sometime before the weekend. Travis Corwin was our sargent, we did trivia and raffled off a Rotary Hat, for $40 sold to our program Paul Delzatto of Cub Scouts. Paul D talked about their upcoming trip with the kids to the intrepid. They are going to camp out on the boat , very exciting. The club donated some money to the Cub Scouts to help them pay for their adventure.

The rotary club enjoyed an excellent sargent routine by newcomer Travis Corwin. He even auctioned off a rotary pen. He also had the program, Megan Cunningham from New Hope Rising. An organization that helps people that have problems with drinking or drugs. Their guidance of helping people, is definitely "God's Work" and we appreciate them stopping in and sharing their mission and outreach.

Eileen from Book Fairies joined us to tell us about her journey delivering books to children in a country that's currently facing a book shortage

Sargent Tom Guldi had us guess quotes from his book of tricks. Our finale was another session of Meet The Rotarian with Mark Hannan hosting past president Robert Gill.
Our party began with past president, Marty Gilmartin asking all of the guests to report to the party room. Beau Hulse greeted the guests and intoduced president Seamus Doyle to talk about some our recent Rotary Projects. A buffet of chicken franchaise, rice pilaf, skirt steak, and salad. Our 50/50 raffle was won by rotarian, Julianne Mosley. There were brownies and cake for dessert.
Southampton Rotary Annual Thanksgiving Food Box Drive with InterAct and RotarAct Students packed 200 Food Boxes at the Southampton Firehouse for delivery to Heart of the Hamptons Food Pantry in Southampton. EarlyAct students decorated the boxes.
Many Thanks to Former Southampton Rotary President Rob Gill for organizing the $5,000 of food that was donated to those in need this holiday season.

On August 25th the Rotary Club of Southampton visited Rogers Museum to raise money for future causes. Music was provided by Hamptons DJ. Rosane Cassella won the 50/50 raffle and donated the money back to the museum.

On August 11th, 2022 after two years hiatus. The Rotary Club Of Southampton visited the Fresh Air Home in Southampton. We provided the kids with a catered meal with ice cream, face painting and a magic show.

Both competitors finished first and second overall, finishing less than a minute apart from each other, at the 29th annual Southampton Firecracker 8K on Sunday morning. The race winners, who are two of the most decorated athletes on Long Island, won so convincingly that Pearlman was even able to pull out a deck of cards as he celebrated his victory at the popular Fourth of July weekend race.
Beau Hulse entertains the crowd with his tribute to Sinatra at the 2019 Annual Southampton Rotary Spaghetti Dinner held at Edgewater Restaurant in Hampton Bays. The Southampton Rotary thanks the entire community for coming out and supporting our scholarship and endowment fund. Between lunch, dinner, and take out 635 meals were served! Even in the dead of winter, people love to fish on both the Southampton and the Hampton Bays sides of the Shinnecock Canal. The problem is, if anyone falls in it can be very difficult to get out.
Mary Cosby, RN at East End Hospice spoke at our meeting today. She spoke about what they do, their new facility and share a few stories. In support of the cause The Southampton Rotary Club presented Mary with a $500 donation.
